The Beauty of a Creative Space

The Beauty of… a Creative Space’ is a unique arts project directed by Yellow Door Artists and in association with The Heart of Glass.

The project was set within the old Burton’s unit in St. Helens town centre, and utilised as a multi-purpose arts space providing a 6 week flexible and valuable exhibition and studio space for chosen artists to create and showcase work.

Art work was created and produced whilst the space was open to the public and the resulted in a group exhibition which grew week by week as the artists entered and left the space.

‘The Beauty of…’ is an interactive project, where audiences are invited to engage with the artists and the work being created so as to better understand the processes used and decisions made in an artists’ practice.

The project consisted of various strands working towards these aims;

  • An artist residency programme whereby 8 artists from across the UK will work directly from the space.
  • Exhibition and gallery space, providing a platform for the artists to exhibit and sell work.
  • Free workshop opportunities for the public lead by practising artists.
  • A Postcard exhibition, displaying over 70 original pieces of artwork donated by artists from across the country, with 100% of sales donated to charity
